About Us
Spoilers, Inc. was founded in 1987 by
Lawrence S. Shapiro, a United Airlines Boeing 747
Captain who believed that pilots of general aviation
high performance piston airplanes should have the same
descent control as his jets. No longer would pilots have
to juggle power settings to maintain cabin
pressurization and adequate cylinder head temperatures
while trying to descend for an approach to land. Nor
would they have to struggle to reduce airspeed in order
to extend the landing gear in an awkward attempt to
increase drag and thus the rate of descent.
